Within the womb of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, the Fashion Department has emerged as one of the most prestigious fashion schools in the world.
Ann Demeulemeester, Walter Van Beirendonck, Dries Van Noten and Martin Margiela waved goodbye to the Academy in the early 1980s, after which great interest in avant-garde Antwerp fashion emerged within the fashion world and the international media.
Veronique Branquinho, A.F.Vandevorst, Christian Wijnants, Bruno Pieters, Haider Ackermann, Demna Gvasalia and many others went on to write Antwerp fashion history.
What began as a small end-of-year presentation within the Academy's walls, the annual, always surprising SHOW in June has emerged as an indispensable tradition for some 5,000 fashion lovers, representatives of major fashion houses and other industry insiders.
